Australian Financial Literacy Assessment
The Australian Financial Literacy Assessment (AFLA) is a free and voluntary national online assessment available to Australian students in Years 9 and 10. AFLA is an initiative of the Commonwealth Bank Foundation and is developed and delivered by Educational Assessment Australia (EAA). AFLA offers information for students, teachers and parents on students’ financial literacy. The Assessment includes questions on a range of topics using practical and real-life situations. Financial literacy is about making informed judgements and taking effective decisions when using or managing money. Financial literacy is an essential life skill for all young Australians. The Commonwealth Bank Foundation seeks to encourage developments in education, particularly the development of financial literacy skills of young Australians. EAA has been commissioned as a leading national educational assessment organisation to develop the Australian Financial Literacy Assessment. The Assessment is available online for Year 9 and Year 10 students and is designed to benefit student learning across a number of disciplines. On completion of each assessment, students receive immediate result summaries showing their total score. Teachers will receive instant details on individual, class and cohort performance. Teachers are able to use the data provided by AFLA to identify strengths and weaknesses and to focus on specific areas of financial literacy education. This information can assist in developing teaching and learning programs

General Information
Assessment StructureThe Assessment will be split into two parts: a Pre-learning Assessment and a Post-learning Assessment. The two assessment options are designed to chart student growth and learning in financial literacy throughout the year. However, it is not necessary that students participate in both the Pre and Post learning Assessments. Schools can elect to use the assessments independently. They remain a valuable measure of students’ awareness, understanding and skill in financial literacy. Important Dates
