Year 4 Scotch Oakburn College Junior School

It is particularly great to get a medal for the writing competition, because I used to HATE writing. Maybe I could become a famous fantasy novelist one day?

I love reading, my two favourite books have been The Book of Lies and Eldest comedian! This year I have been a member of the '8 Amigos,' which is a group of kids from my school who have competed in the Lego Robotics Championships, we won the State Final.

My name is Freya John. I am absolutely thrilled at getting two medals in one year, as I have only ever received one before, (for English, in Grade 3) and it is a wonderful honour to have so many. I like to spend my time reading, creating web pages, doing craft things and eating.

Hi, I'm George Wang and I am 11. My Hobbies include: Reading, Soccer, Planes, Tanks, Submarines, Computer games & Lego. Some of my Achievements include winning a 1st place in my age group in a ST Cecilia and Performance Challenge 2006 for Piano in Launceston. I also attained a High Distinction in a Grade 2 Piano Exam in the same year. For the 2007 Science Test I received a High Distinction, English, Spelling and Writing I received Distinctions.

Hi! My name is Gillian Crosby and I am thirteen years old. I love playing the piano and reading and drama. My favourite colour is pink. This year I have won two ICAS medals for Spelling and Writing. Over the years I have received five others for Spelling, Writing and English. I am really proud of what I have achieved and I hope to keep achieving!

Year 8 New Town High School

My name is James Newlands and I am a student in Grade 8 at New Town High School. I am very interested in science and mathematics, quite proficient with computers and an avid reader. I hope to one day work in the fields of science or engineering. This year, I entered the Computer Skills and Science competitions and I was delighted to find out, that I had received a medal for both. I am very happy with my achievement and I hope to continue with the ICAS competitions in the future, with the hope that I may again excel in them.

My name is Serena and I am 12. I have lived in three different countries. I enjoy reading, writing, swimming and Irish Dancing. My favourite subject is English. When I found out the results, I was pleased and excited.
